Brian Marsh has been busy clearing trails and opening up the possibilities for hikers and bikers already this year…. this is his report on the Hills to Summit Lake rail trail.
The rail trail from Hills to Summit Lake is now completely free of snow and the few windfalls are now removed. There was one plugged culvert that was sending water down the trail, creating a couple of small ruts. I managed to clear the culvert, so the water is gone and the ruts are ridable.
The beaver did some more substantial falling at the north end of Summit Lake. I did not tackle his work.
One small black bear, one bald eagle, numerous squirrels and geese.
Thank you Brian for your hard work – and for anyone who hasn’t yet explored this peaceful, natural, delightful trail, please do!
